JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS. YESTERDAY’S FUNCTION. At the Nightcaps School . Jubilee, yesterday morning was spent in taking decade photographs and in calling the roll, and while awaiting the taking of the groups, all intermingled _ freely and there was everywhere evident a splendid spirit of goodfellowship. The following pupils of the first decade entered their names on the Jubilee register:—Herbert Andrews, Thomas Webb, Donald Sinclair, Annie Sinclair, Walter P. Quested, Evelyn May Clapp, Edward Mason, Edmund Cosgriff, Elicia Jane Clapp, Jane Dempster, Maggie Johnstone, Helen Johnstone, Susie Reed, Thomas Cosgriff, George Bailey, Mary I. Knox, John Spowart, James Mason, Peter Grant, James Grant, James Hall, Harriet Quested, Mary Gutsell, Jessie Johnston, Lewis Clapp, J. Brazier. Taking advantage of the glorious weather conditions, a large number of the visitors availed themselves of the opportunity of visiting Ohai by rail, upwards of 150 people journeying out on the excursion train run by the Ohai Railway Board. The mining equipment and hauling plants were inspected, while the various points of. interest in the township were also visited, astonishment being expressed on all sides at the rapid expansion of the district. The Nightcaps Silver Band, conducted by Mr M. Dixon, senior, rendered a short programme of music, which added greatly to the afternoon’s enjoyment. Arrangements for to-day have been made as follows: —1.30 p.m. Fancy dress parade, after which a sports picnic will be held in Mr Excell’s paddock. The afternoon will be devoted to games and races. People will take baskets, and hot water will be provided. At 7.30 p.m. a special jubilee concert by old pupils will be held.
