Mayfair’s Adjectives.

Mayfair is looking for a new adjective. “Amusing” is quite demoded and “definitely” is a little too general to be smart, while even the highbrows are wearying of such phrases as “too, too lovely,” or “quite, quite beautiful.” The Duchess of York uses the word “delicious” a good deal, and it is quite possible that this may be fashionable London’s next choice of a catchword. It is certainly prettier than some of its predecessors. Invercargill has discovered a bright new word. The other day I heard one of our smart people described as “Too utterly lethal for words!”
