The Tamatea makes her mid-weekly run to Stewart Island to-day. leaving at 10.15 a.m. She leaves the Island again at 2.30 p.m. this afternoon to return to Bluff. The ketch Rakiura (W. Thomson, master) arrived from Stewart Island at 10.20 a.m. yesterday The Waimarino is scheduled to clear Auckland to-morrow evenmg for Napier, Wellington. Lyttelton, Dunedin and Bluff. She is due at the last named port on Thursday, the 18*h. The National Mortgage and Agency Company advises that the steamer Fordsdale, en route from London to New Zealand, in ballast, is now due at Bluff on January 12 to commence "Homeward loading. She is expected at Port Chalmers on January 16 to continue loading, and will sail on January 17 for Timaru, thence Wellington for fuel oil only, and Auckland to complete loading. The Fordsdale is scheduled to leave Auckland finally on January 29 for London and West of England ports, via Panama. She is due at London about March 17. Within half-an-hour of each other two large overseas vessels sailed from Port Chalmers on Saturday morning for England. At 7.10 a.m. the Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Denison cleared from her berth at the George street wharf, bound for London. She was followed at 7-40: a.m. by the Shaw, Savin, and Albion liner Tainui, bound for Southampton and London. The ships will travel by different routes, the Port Denison making the homeward run via Cape Ho.rn and Montevideo, and the Tainui by the Panama canal route. Both vessels are deeply laden with full cargoes of New Zealand produce, and the Tainui is also carrying about 70 passengers. Among those present on the George street wharf was M r H. c - Campbell, chairman of the Harbour Board. The Tainui is due at Southampton on February 11. and the Port Denison should arrive at London about February 17. The Union Company’s Waipiata, on her usual coastal run, was to leave Lyttelton yesterday at 2.30 p.m. for Dunedin and Bluff. She is due at Bluff to-morrow morn- " The Cornwall was to leave Lyttelton yesterday morning for Otago, but it is not known yet whether she will berth at Port Chalmers or Dunedin. She is due to-day, and is expected to sail about January 15 for Bluff. Lyttelton, Wellington, Napier, and Auckand. , , , Carrying a full shipment of wool and other Dominion products, the Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Denison left Port Chalmers on Saturday morning for London, via Cape Horn, Montevideo and Las Palmas. The vessel’s freight was loaded at New Plymouth. Gisborne. Napier and Port Chalmers. Dr H. Murray, of Dunedin, is making the Homeward voyage as ship's doctor. The Port Denison is due at London on "February 17. The naval vessel Wakakura arrived at Dunedin on Sunday morning from Auck-
land and Wellington, and was berthed at the Rattray street wharf. The vessel will be engaged for some weeks in taking ratings of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve to sea for training and exercises.
