WHEAT CROPS

DAMAGE BY HAIL. MEETING OF FARMERS. (Per United Press Association.) Ashburton, January 9. A meeting of farmers who sustained loss of crops through hail last Friday to-day passed a resolution:— (1) Urging that Government officials advise immediately as td the economic utilization of the residue of the crops. (2) The Wheat Purchase Board be asked in view of the likely deficiency and damage through the storm and other agencies, to consider the question of increasing the payout for the season. (3) .That the United Wheatgrowers’ Association bo urged to consider formulating an insurance scheme by means of a levy on all wheat grown. A small committee was formed to approach the Government in an endeavour to arrange financial assistance and other matters.
