Letter To Kitty

My dearest Kitty— Here we are again! But why be down in the dumps? The weather is becoming summery once, more, you can don your pretties again and put dull care definitely behind you. If you’re feeling blue I suggest one really long night’s sleep. You know, have a hot bath about eightish and lock yourself into your room and sleep all your troubles away. You’re bound to wake feeling absolutely O.K. and able to take an intelligent interest in things. Although I don’t believe in introspection I do think that you often imagine you’re depressed and you’re really not at all. Just stop and ask yourself what reason you’ve got to be feeling so down and ten to one you’ll find that you might just as well be cheery as miserable. Anyway, try the sleep cure. It will improve your looks as well as your temper. Long trousers are definitely in, 1 believe. I was hearing some details of life at Stewart Island from a friend who’d been holidaying there and apparently the place was full of masculine young women. Long trousers predominated, but shorts were also in evidence and I believe at one of the dances two fair damsels wore very abbreviated pairs. Some approved—others didn’t! What are we girls to do? Please ourselves, I think and the dei’l take the hindmost. Cheer up, old soul, JANE.
