“A NEW AND HAPPIER GERMANY?
(Per United Press Association.) Auckland, January 6.
Dr A. Asmis, Consul-General for Germany in Australia, New Zealand and Samoa, arrived to-day on his first visit to New Zealand. He said he was convinced that the Hitler regime was making for a new and happier Germany. The maintenance of peace was one of the Chancellor s principles and it was his fervent hope that in a short time all suspicion and ill-feeling amongst the nations would disappear. . . Dr Asmis stated that during his visit to New Zealand he would endeavour to foster a most friendly relationship between the two countries.
