While North Canterbury is still very dry farmers in districts south of the Waimakariri have now had all the rain they need (says the Press) and any more might do some harm. The crops as a whole are looking extremely well, although in the Temuka, Geraldine, and Ashburton districts some of them have been flattened by heavy rains and gales over the Christmas week-end. In some cases, where the crops are particularly heavy, it is unlikely that they will rise again. Fat lambs and shorn sheep are in prime condition and cattle have never looked better. In Kaikoura, the quantity of cream sent to the factory last month created a record', and the indications are that another record will be established this month,
