Miss Dorothy Strang, Lewis Street, is at present visiting Dunedin. Mrs A. L. Broughton, Louisa street, is spending a holiday at Te Anau. Miss June Moffett leaves to-day to spend a holiday at Stewart Island. Mr and Mrs F. C. Rowley and family
are spending a holiday at Otatara. Mrs Robert Stout, Layard street, arrived in Christchurch last Saturday. Miss Fanny Macdonald of Balclutha is the guest of Miss Macdonald, Don street.
Mrs I. W. Raymond, “Woodslea Downs” will visit Invercargill next week.
Misses Naomi and Nancy Pratt, of Dunedin, are at present visiting Stewart Island.
. Mr and Mrs S. W. Jones, Yarrow street, spent the Christmas holidays at Stewart Island.
Mr and Mrs R. N. Todd and family left on Tuesday for a camping trip up the Eglington Valley. Mrs K. D. Andrews-Baxter, who has been visiting Dunedin, returned home on Thursday evening. Mr and Mrs D. Irvine, Tweed Street, accompanied by their small daughter, leave for Dunedin to-day Miss R. Woodward is at present the guest of Miss Daisy McCutcheon “Hasborough Place,” Balclutha. Mrs George Broughton, Duke street, who has been visiting Christchurch, returned home on Tuesday.
Mr and Mrs J. R. Hart and the Misses Hart, Timaru, are at present spending a camping tour in Southland. Miss Hope Pinckney, who has been the guest of Mrs C. H. Tripp, Timaru, returned to Glenaray last week. Mr and Mrs W. Fordyce and family, Tweed Street, leave to-day for Dunedin where they will spend a holiday. Mr and Mrs Frank Delaney, St. Albans, Christchurch, are at present spending a fishing trip at Te Anau and Milford.
Mr and Mrs J. Johnston and family of Alice street, accompanied by Miss D. Watts left on Tuesday for the Eglinton Valley.
Miss Vera Baty left by Friday morning’s express for Wellington where she will be the guest of her aunt, Mrs E. B. McKay.
Miss B. Wilson of Otahuti, and Miss Clark of Ryal Bush, are visitors at “Taramea House”, Taramea Bay, Rocks, Riverton.
Mrs J. D. Shand of Eamslaw Street, accompanied by her two daughters, left last Wednesday to spend a holiday in Wellington. Miss Winifred Metzger, Wyndham, is spending the holidays with her parents, Mr and Mrs V. Metzger, Athelney street, Bluff. Mr and Mrs George Moffett, North Road, returned on Thursday from Lake Monowai where they camped for the Christmas holidays. The Misses Polling, Crawford and Jackson of Mornington, Dunedin, are visitors at “Taramea House” Taramea Bay, Rocks, Riverton. Mr and Mrs Arthur Bradshaw left last Saturday on the first stage of their flight to Christchurch, Wellington. Nelson and Blenheim.
Mrs G. J. Thompson and her small son Paul are spending the Christmas and New Year holidays with Miss Deegan, “Waterdale,” Oreti. Mr and Mrs W. Hinchey and family, Gala Street, leave Invercargill next Wednesday for a motoring tour in Otago and South Canterbury. Mr and Mrs R. D. Macdonald, Balclutha, arrived in Invercargill on Friday to spend a holiday -with Dr and Mrs J. G. Macdonald, Don street.
Miss Molly Girdler, Beatrice street, left by the express on Friday for Timaru to be bridesmaid at the Arnold— Williams wedding which takes place next Friday. Professor Anne Strong, Dean of the Faculty of Home Science at the Otago University, who has arrived in London from America, has been awarded a Carnegie grant. Misses M. Brown and E. Millar, of Bluff, visited Ohai last week-end to be present at the Ferguson—Howd wedding. They were the guests of Mrs H. Ferguson. Mrs T. R. Dillon and Miss Veronica Dillon, of Nine Mile, Riversdale, who spent a week’s holiday with Miss Rae, the schoolhouse, Otatara, returned home on Saturday afternoon. Mrs F. W. McGill and Miss Olive McGill, accompanied by Miss Hazel Damill, of Winton, arrived home from Central Otago last Wednesday and left on Thursday for the Eglinton Valley. Miss Sutton, Earnslaw Street, left on Friday en route for the Milford Track which she will walk these holidays. She will be accompanied by Misses Anne Morrell and Terry Benzoni of Dunedin.
A quiet wedding was solemnized on Wednesday, December 27, when Hilda May, daughter of Mrs E. Wall, was married to James Albert, son of Mr and Mrs J. Y. Archer. The Rev. K. D. Andrews-Baxter performed the ceremony.

' Dr. and Mrs David Jennings returned home last Sunday. Miss E. M. Reid is spending the holidays at Pounawea and Dunedin. Miss Mabel Stewart, of Seacliff, is at present visiting the Eglinton Valley. Mr and Mrs Heath, of Auckland, are the guests of Mrs Giller, Janet street. Mr and Mrs Hall-Jones and their family are spending the holidays at Te Anau.
Miss MacKenzic will return on Tuesday from. Athol where she has been spending a holiday. Miss Joy Rae, of Dunedin, is spending a three weeks’ holiday in Gore, Mataura and Invercargill. Mr and Mrs H. Morgan and family leave to-day for Greymouth where they will in future reside. Miss May O’Beime, Dalrymple road, left on Tuesday for the north, where she will pay a round of visits.
Miss Mavis Veitch left at the end of last week for the West Coast where she will spend the summer holidays.
Mrs A. C. Mac Ewan, Duke street, will leave to-day for Dunedin where she will be the guest of Mrs Fountain, Kew.
Mrs Geoffrey Henderson, of Rcmeura, Auckland, accompanied by her two sons, is at present the guest of her father, Mr McLeod, North Road, Avenal.
Mr and Mrs Alfred Smith, of Wellington, are the guests of their daughter, Mrs Archie Hawke, Gore. They paid a round of visits to old friends in Invercargill during the week. Mr and Mrs W. M. Uttley, of the Waitaki Boys’ High School, are at present in Invercargill visiting Dr. and Mrs G. H. Uttley, the Rectory, Crinan Street, and Mr and Mrs J. F. Strang, Yarrow Street.
