PROMOTION OF SALES. During the past few years, methods of promoting the sales of branded merchandise have undergone considerable overhauling. Methods of advertising have been enlarged and reconsidered as never before. The conclusion arrived at by the most successful bus.ness firms is that newspapers are not only the most economical medium from the standpoint of cost per circulation, but have other specific advantages, summarized by the American Bureau of Advertising as:— . (1) Newspaper advertising eliminates waste territory; (2) It eliminates waste time, spots the likely days; (3) It eliminates waste effort by concentrating on getting sales;
(4) It eliminates waste expense on unproductive markets or appeals by enabling low-cost test campaigns; (5) It eliminates wasted funds or wasted opportunity resulting from sudden business changes; (6) The advertiser can’t lose, because he can always check results.
