BLUFF NOTES
(From Our Correspondent.) Mrs A. Hastie and son, Dunedin, went across on the Tamatea to Stewart Island on Saturday. While at the Island they will be the guests of Mr and Mrs J. Shannon, Halfmoon Bay. Mr and Mrs D. Robertson returned on Tuesday from a holiday at Stewart Island. Although the weather was not particularly pleasant at the port, Christmas passed very pleasantly, a cheerful spirit prevailing. An added air of brightness was given at night by the flagging and lighting of Gore street. The Watersiders’ Band engaged in carolling from the early hours of Christmas morning, and were well received by residents. On Tuesday there was something of a general exodus from the town, the attraction being the Riverton Regatta (which is well patronized each year by Bluff people), but visitors were again numerous at the port, there being many picnic parties about Argyle Beach and along the Point Road. With a carnival beginning (and extending into next week) there should be a big crowd daily over the New Year holidays.
