CRASHED TO DEATH

12 MINE WORKERS KILLED.

(United Press Assn.— Telegraph Copyright.) Cape Town, December 19. Two Europeans and ten natives who were working on a steel platform at the top of a new shaft in the Crown mines were killed when the platform, weighing eight tons, struck the side of the shaft when being moved. One chain snapped and the sudden strain caused the other chain to break. The platform then fell 3000 feet into 40 feet of water.
