THEFTS OF BICYCLES

TWO MEN SENT TO GAOL. (Per United Press Association.) Christchurch, December 19. Two bicycle thieves, Harold Western Burleigh, aged 25, and Herbert Denis Fitzgerald, aged 24, who not only filed the numbers off machines but stamped on new numbers and re-painted the cycles, were sentenced to three months’ hard labour by the Magistrate, Mr Mosley, this morning. The police said their thefts had been systematic.
