O’DUFFY IN PRISON

POLITICAL OFFENCE ALLEGED.

WEARING A BLUE SHIRT.

(United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.)

Dublin, December 18. A cordon of police and soldiers still surrounds Westport barracks to prevent the rescue of General O Duffy, though an impromptu meeting of Blue Shirts made no suggestion of this. The officials made General O Duffy and his companions comfortable in temporary celts. General O’Duffy will be charged after Christmas with the political offence of wearing a blue shirt. Three armed and masked men entered the Dublin-Kerry train and held up the guard. They seized copies of the Irish Press and dumped them on the line six miles distant, and escaped in a motor car. Mr de Valera did not attend the opening of the Ulster Parliament. APPEAL TO COURT UNITED PARTY’S ACTION. (United Press Assn—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 7 p.m.) London, December 19. Mr Justice Johnson permitted the United Ireland Party’s legal advisers to apply to the High Court for a writ of habeas corpus in respect of General O’Duffy’s arrest. The hearing is fixed for Wednesday.
