The new lightning move by the Japanese military is causing consternation in Eastern Charhar, where a mixed force of a thousand Manchukuo and Japanese troops from the Bolongnor Garrison are thrusting rapidly towards Lugnen, 30 miles eastward of Kalgan, which is the gateway into China from Mongolia. The Japanese explanation is that the expedition is directed against bandits and that it is to be recalled when they have been dispersed. FIGHTING BEGUN OFFENSIVE AGAINST REBELS. (United Press Assn—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 1.10 a.m.) Shanghai, December 18. It is reported that a well organized offensive has begun against the rebel Fukien forces who are supported by Communists in the Kienning and Kienyang areas. Skirmishes commenced at the week-end and major hostilities are expected by the end of the week.
