HOPE AND CONFIDENCE
NEW SPIRIT IN GERMANY. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 12.5 a.m.) London, December 18. The Berlin correspondent of the Daily Mail says that a season of hope and confidence in regenerated Germany is the best description of the first Christmas under Herr Hitler’s leadership. There is an appearance of contentment everywhere compared with real disorder and uneasiness last year. Even the Nazis’ opponents admit that they are responsible and a feeling of intense gratitude permeates the nation. But there is still widespread distress, and printed appeals for help for the sick and hungry are supplementing a personal canvass.
