NEGRO LYNCHED
ACQUITTED BY GRANDj JURY. (United press Assn. —Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 6.30 p.m) New York. December 16 A message from Columbia (Tennessee) states that a Negro youth, Cord Cheek, was lynched to-day after being discharged by the grand jury on a charge of attacking a young white girl. His body was found hanged to a tree. Officials knew nothing of the lynching until notified afterwards by telephone. Apparently a small band carried out the hanging without bothering to arouse the countryside.
