Miss Hoyles’ Kindergarten
On Thursday afternoon a very pleasant function took place when Miss Hoyles’ Kindergarten held its annual break-up. All Saints’ Hall was filled with parents and friends and many vases of marigolds and poppies made a festive decoration. The audience were highly appreciative of the programme which the tiny tots submitted and all agreed that Miss Hoyles and her able assistant. Miss Girdler, are to be congratulated on the work they have accomplished this year. The programme consisted of many delightful choruses from the children and solos by Rolin Rice, Joan Hamilton, Alison Thomas, Douglas Turney, Peter Blaxall. Recitations were given by Betty Bews and Joan Carter. The choir, which sang “Even Song,” comprised Gay Smith, Alison Thomas, Douglas Turney, Peter Blaxall and Bruce McKitterick. After the entertainment the stage curtains were drawn and a wellladen Christmas Tree was displayed. It was covered with gifts for all the children present, the distributing of which made a happy conclusion to an enjoyable afternoon. Besides the children already mentioned others who took part in the break-up were:—Adele Hamilton, Noeline Frampton, Ngaire Rice, Elaine Lowden, Valmai Short, Alisa Harvey, Bill Broad, Peter Milward, John and David Broughton, Pat Rice, Alec Peterson, Ewen Lowden and Hunter Royds.
