PETITION DISMISSED

WINDING UP OF BUSINESS. (Per United Press Association.) Christchurch, December 6. A petition asking that the building and contracting business of Smith Brothers of Ashburton should be wound ud was dismissed by Mr Justice Ostler this morning. The petitioner was Ernest Francis Smith, a builder, a shareholder in the company. His Honour said it would be suicidal to liquidate the company when a period of loss seemed to be over and a period of comparative prosperity was at hand. He added that the petitioner who had started an opposition business wanted to put Iris rival out of action.
