SERIOUS ALLEGATION
INJURIES TO LITTLE GIRL.
(Per United Press Association.) Wellington, December 6. After being bound with ropes and taken to the Petone police station by a party of searchers, John Phillip Crampton Collett, a garage employee, single, aged 38, was charged in the Petone police court this afternoon with rape of a girl aged 41 at Day s Bay. He was remanded to appear at Petone next Wednesday. The little girl is at present lying in hospital suffering ftom serious injuries. After receiving word of what had happened to the girl, W. Dick, catetaker of Williams Park, Day’s Bay, organized search parties and while patrolling the beach the parly’s suspicions fell on accused who showed fight. He was quickly overpowered and after being bound, was taken to the Petone police station in a car.
