RIVERTON NOTES
YOUNG PEOPLE’S GATHERINGS. (From Our Correspondent.) A successful series of young , people s anniversary meetings was held by the Salvation Army during the week-end. . Children from Colac, Tihaka and Riverton took part, their singing being favourably commented on by all present. The Sunday School prizes were presented on Sunday afternoon by Captain H. Morley, of Nightcaps, who was in charge of all meetings. On Monday night the following programme was rendered, the items being well received. Miss Robinson accompanied the items; —Song, children (united); prayer song, children (united); prayer; song, children (united); Scripture reading; saxophone solo Bro. A. Dixon (Nightcaps); “Its no joke to be a baby,” primary children; action song, Riverton girls; tug-of-war, Colac and Tihaka boys; solo (vocal), Iris Broomhall; concertina solo, Captain Morley (Nightcaps); recitation, Maitland Nicoll; goodnight song, primary; recitation, Ngaire Whitelock; vocal solo, Lieutenant Armstrong; action song, Colac and Tihaka girls; donkey song, Colac and Tihaka boys; saxophone and tenor horn duet, Captain Morley and Bro. A. Dixon; song, children (united); camp fire, girls; recitation, Reggie Dawson; tableau. Bowls. On Monday evening a rink from Nightcaps competed with the holders (Aparima) for the Browns Cup. The contest was witnessed by a fair number of enthusiasts. Results, however, went to the holders. Following are the results:— • N. A. Gayyard and Cochrane (s) 20 — Mills and Spencer (s) . , “3 23 On Tuesday evening a rink from Winton challenged the holders (Riverton Club) for president’s senior stars.
