Asia has trees that “pray” each day. One of them, a tall date palm in Paiksahi, India, bends to the ground once every 24 hours—the “descent” lasting from 2 a.m. to noon and the “ascent” taking from 2 p.m. to midnight. Flying at great heights may cause symptoms similar to those of alcoholic intoxication, including excitement, quarrelsomeness, apathy and drowsiness.
