FERTILIZER SUBSIDY

CONFERENCE WITH MANUFACTURERS. (From Our Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, November 30. In the House to-day Mr C. A. Wilkinson asked the Minister of Agriculture if he would make a pronouncement regarding the Government policy in respect to the fertilizer subsidy for next year. The present arrangement was expiring in December, he said, and it was necessary that an early intimation be given as arrangements had to be made in advance, both by the manufacturer as well as the farmer and merchants.

“The present arrangement expires at the end of December and arrangements have already been made for a meeting with representatives of the superphosphate manufactures next week for the purpose of discussing the question of the subsidy for the remainder of the 12 months ending June 30,” replied Mr MacMillan. “The policy decided upon by the Government will be announced as soon after this meeting as circumstances permit.”
