REICHSTAG FIRE TRIAL. PORTER’S EVIDENCE LAUGHED AT. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Berlin, October 24. The Reichstag porter, Hornemann, created a .diversion at the fire trial after declaring that he had never previously seen the accused Bulgarians. He pointed out Dimitroff and said: “Yes, that one came to me on the afternoon before the fire, saying _in broken German, ‘Within twenty minutes the Reichstag may explode’.” The statement was greeted with laughter throughout the court as ev'en the prosecution is agreed that Dimitroff has an unassailable alibi.
Dimitroff, eliciting from Hornemann that he had not previously made such a statement, asked who had influenced him to give such evidence to-day. The president, shouting furiously, declared that Dimitroff was insulting the witness and ordered him to discontinue.
