EASTERN SOUTHLAND COMPETITION. FIRST SERIES OF MATCHES. In the first series of Wednesday matches in the Eastern Southland Cricket Association’s competition play was of a good standard and two interesting matches were played. The first points on the table were scored by Gore A and Celtic B.

CELTIC B v. GORE B. The first meeting of the Celtic B and Gore B teams at the Hostel grounds provided Celtic with an easy victory by 109 runs to 57. Details were as follows:—

Bowling analysis: Macara took five for 29, Flint none for 18, Campbell two for 3, Anderson none for 9, Barron none for 9, Thomson none for 10, Davidson none for 10, Kershaw one for 11.
