A COLLINGWOOD COMPLAINT.

To the Editor. Sir,—l would like to enter a strong protest against the way in which the Southland County Council is behaving regarding the north side of the Waihopai River from the Railway bridge as far as Elies Road. About a year ago a promise was given to the effect that work would be started on this area during the present spring, but. one is not surprised to see that nothing has been done as so many promises have been made in the past and all gone the one way. It is surprising to me that the Health Department has not taken some action long, long ago as the disgraceful state of this area is a menace to the health of the community. What I cannot understand is that the member for the Riding takes no interest whatever in this project and which is probably the most unsightly spot in the whole of Southland. Trusting that the authorities will wake up to their sense of duty,—l am, etc., COLLINGWOOD RESIDENT.
