MOLESTED BY NAZIS
AMERICANS IN GERMANY. FAILURE TO SALUTE FLAG. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) London, October 12. The American Ambassador has received instructions from Washington to make energetic representations regarding the Brown Shirt molestation of Americans failing to salute the Nazi flag. He will state that the United States is not satisfied with the apologies which have always been forthcoming, and insists that the assailants should be punished and the nature of their punishment be communicated to him. The British Embassy has protested in writing against the assault on a naturalized Englishman. Koenig, for failing to salute the Nazi flag.
COMBATING NAZI-ISM STRONG AUSTRIAN OPPOSITION. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Vienna, October 12. Dr Dollfuss and Prince Starhembcrg have reached an agreement . that the whole of the Heimwehr joins the Chancellor’s patriotic front in which Prince Starhemberg becomes his righthand man, completing with Major Fey a powerful triumvirate to combat Nazi-ism.
SUPPORT FOR AUSTRIA BRITISH LABOUR COUNCIL. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) London, October 12. The National Labour Council, comprising the Trades Union Congress, the Labour Party and the Parliamentary Labour Party, considered the Austrian situation and made a statement that Austrian democracy workers and organizations were threatened by Fascism, which had already destroyed political and industrial freedom in Germany and Italy. The council is arranging a campaign in Britain in support of Austria’s struggle for freedom.
