OHAI NOTES
SUCCESSFUL DANCE. A dance, arranged by the young people, was held in the public hall on Monday, October 2, in honour of Mr James Hunter, who is shortly to be married. Music was supplied by Messrs T. Luke, R. Heller and R. Smith while the duties of M.C. were ably carried out by Messrs H. Ferguson and J. Homer. A lucky spot waltz was won by Mr Boyd and partner. On behalf of those present Mr Heller presented the guest with a tea-set and fireside companion and wished him every success in. married life. Mi Hunter suitably replied. A very enjoyable social evening was spent at Mrs Adcock’s residence last week. The evening took the form of a bring and buy sale in aid of the Spring Fair to be held in the Ohai Hall on October 13.
The time passed pleasantly in games, competitions etc, while songs rendered by Mr D. Young were much appreciated. Recitations were also given, by Mrs Ashworth, Misses P. Wilson, M. Adcock and Master Adcock. Later in the evening the goods were sold and proved veiY successful. After supper had been served by the hostess, Mr Brooks, on behalf of the company thanked Mr and Mrs Adcock for the very pleasant evening. On Tuesday evening, September 26, a novelty social was run by the men members of the church when a most enjoyable time was spent. Mr T. Luke supplied excellent music while Mr Guttery acted as M.C. During the evening musical items were given by Mr J. Nicol and Mr Young, both having to respond to encores. Supper was served by the men and a happy evening was brought to a close by the singing of Auld Lang Syne.
Whist Drive. There was a good attendance at the school on Thursday last when the school committee held their weekly card evening. The winners for the evening were Mrs R. Wilson and Mr W. Thomson.
