COMMITTED FOR TRIAL

ALLEGED ATTEMPTED MURDER. SEAMAN CHARGED. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, September 28. Helge Vigo Sorenson, aged 46, a seaman, was charged in the Police Court this morning with attempting to murder Louisa Annie Thompson, and with assaulting Roy Johnston so as to cause actual bodily harm, both at Onehunga on the evening of Saturday, September 2. Evidence was given that, following a party to which, Sorenson, a stranger, was invited and at which a large quan" tity of liquor was consumed, the man and woman were stabbed apparently with a knife.

No evidence was given that the accused had a knife, and two witnesses disagreed with Mrs Thompson’s statement that a scuffle occurred before she interfered.

Accused pleaded not guilty and was committed for trial.
