SHOPS DESTROYED
FIRE AT OPOTIKI. (United Pres Assn. —Telegraph Copyright.) Opotiki, September 26. At 4 a.m. three shops were gutted by fire and their contents destroyed. One adjoining was damaged and the contents ruined. The outbreak occurred in the centre of the town and its origin is unknown. The occupiers were Mrs Paterson, Auld and Co., G. Dawson and a Chinaman. The owner was Mr W. Oakes.
