DRUMMOND NOTES

(From Our Correspondent.) On Saturday evening about 40 Drummond and Oreti friends of Mr and Mrs J. P. Moore motored up to “Monavale,” Dunearn, to pay them a surprise visit. A pleasant evening was spent with dancing, games and competitions, the winners of which were Mr John Kincaid, Mr L. Turner and Mr J. Lilico. Messrs D. Jones and John Lilico jun., supplied the music for the dance which was held in the spacious dining room. After supper Mr D. Lilico, on behalf of the visitors, called on Mr John Kincaid to make a presentation. Mr Kincaid referred to the many good qualities of Mr and Mrs Moore and expressed regret at their leaving the Drummond district after 10 years’ residence there. He then presented Mr and Mrs Moore with a fireside chair and tea waggon and called on Mr D. Lilico to make a further presentation. Mrs Lilico on behalf of the Drummond branch of the W.D.F.U., referred to Mrs Moore s enthusiastic work for the W.D.F.U. and asked her to accept a leather handbag from the members. Mr Lilico also presented Master Graham and Miss Margaret Moore with gifts from the children. Mr Moore feelingly replied and voiced his regret at leaving so many good friends and neighbours. The monthly meeting of the Drummond branch of the W.D.F.U. was held in the hall, Mrs John Kincaid, presiding over a good attendance of members. It was decided to send a donation towards a presentation to Mrs Jackson. Mrs David Lilico demonstrated on the making of meringues and flakey pastry. Mrs W. Campbell, on behalf of the members, thanked Mrs Lilico.
