Eldridge, Labour candidate for the last election in the Premier’s constituency, Croydon, sued Mr B. S. B. Stevens, Premier of New South Wales, claiming £5OOO for defamation arising out of that campaign. Mr Eldridge alleged that his prospects were prejudiced by Mr Stevens s public comments linking him with a religious controversy which occurred while plaintiff was a member of the House of Representatives some time before. . . The jury to-day gave its verdict m favour of the defendant.
