L. Tapley and Company advise that the Gale will replace the Storm on the southern run and will arrive nt Bluff on September 7 to load for Wellington and Wanganui via way ports. . The P. and O. liner Cathay arrived at Fremantle on August 29 from London. The vessel is due at Sydney on September 7. The O. and O. Line steamer Golden Eagle arrived at Wellington on Friday morning from Auckland to discharge Pacific coast cargo. She left Wellington on Friday afternoon for Australia to complete discharge. . Cable advice has been received that the Union Company’s Gabriella left Newcastle last Tuesday for Auckland and Napier. The Union Company’s Royal Mail Steamer, Makura left San Francisco on August 30 for Papeete, Rarotonga. Wellington and Sydney. She is due at Wellington on September 18. , . The Government steamer Matai returned to Wellington last Thursday from Cook Strait lighthouses. She will leave Wellington to-day or to-morrow for the southern lighthouses. ... The Commonwealth and Dominion Line motor ship Port Alma is scheduled to reach Auckland from Liverpool on September 24. The vessel has cargo from west coast ports of Great Britain for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. The C. and t>. Line motor ship Port Dunedin. which left Napier on August 11 for London, via Cape Horn and Dakar, is reported to have passed the Falkland Islands on August 27. , . , In continuation of her voyage from Auckland to Los Angeles the Matson liner Mariposa cleared Suva on August 29. She is due at Los Angeles on September 9. The Federal Company has received cabled advice that the Cambridge cleared Colon on August 26. She left Lyttelton on August 2 for London, Avonmouth, Cardiff, Liverpool and Glasgow, via the Panama Canal. The position of Hoorn (Horne) Islands in the South Pacific Ocean is the subject of a notice to mariners issued by the Marine Department. The islands are reported to lie about four miles to the westward of their position shown on charts 987 (plan) and 1829. WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE.
