BALFOUR NOTES
PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH BAZAAR. (From Our Correspondent.) The bazaar arranged by the Presbyterian Church Guild to raise funds for repairs to the church proved a very successful venture. The takings amounted to over £3B and there is still a small amount to come in, which should bring the total to £4O. Thanks are due to the energetic stall-holders and to the public for the generous response. Following are the results of various competitions: Baking.—Sponge Roll: Mrs J. G. Neatest Ball of Wool: Mr Duncan McLean. Pereonal. Miss Dorothy Olive, Invercargill, is visiting her aunt, Mrs J. Hood, Balfour. Mr and Mrs A. O. Henderson, who have been spending a week in Dunedin, returned home on Saturday. A wedding of local interest took place on Tuesday evening last at the Albany street Congregational Church, Dunedin, the contracting parties being Mr H. R. Jewiss, of Ferndale, and late of Balfour, and Miss E. M. Gould, of North East Valley, Dunedin. Miss Lyla Grant left Balfour last Friday for Dunedin en route to Auckland, where she will embark on the Monterey for Norfolk Island.
