DEVELOPMENT SCHEME. LABOUR PARTY’S ATTITUDE. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 9.55 p.m.) Canberra, July 20. Federal Labour members are strongly opposed to any development plan in the Northern Territory which permits the establishment of chartered companies.
Mr Blakeley, a former Minister for the Interior, said the Labour policy was definitely against the introduction of private enterprise. Mr J. H. Scullin, Leader of the Opposition, while anxious to obtain fuller details of the Government’s plan, said the Labour Party would not agree to the creation of a monopoly over a large area of land in Australia.
