COLAC BAY

On Friday, July 14, the Colac Basketball Club held its annual ball in the Drill Hall, when about 130 were present. The hall was decorated with black and white streamers (the club’s colours) and ferns and greenery. On each side of the stage stood a basketball pole decorated with black and white, while suspended in the middle of the stage was a basketball. Music was supplied by Messrs J. D. Gregg (piano), E. Shore (comet), A. McHay (violin) and B. Beadle (drums and jazz effects), while Mrs H. Valentine played extras. Mr D. Wadsworth, assisted by Messrs E. Sheehan and 'T. Te Aau, acted as M.C’s. Miss M. Smith (Wakapatu) won the satin cushion donated by Mrs E. Shore and Mrs F. Hart won the cake donated by Mrs C. Goodwillie. The winners of the various prize dances were: Monte Carlo, Miss Robertson (Longwood) and Mr Hodges (Longwood); mystery dance, Miss T. Wixon and Mr C. Goodwillie; lucky spot and one step, Misses Norah Whittle and Iris Broomhall (Tihaka). Songs were • contributed by Mrs E. Shore and Miss M.
