Mrs H. McFarlane, of Dunedin, who has been the guest of Mrs F. Dunlop, Limehills, has returned home. Miss K. Bell is spending a holiday at Edendale.
Miss S. Norman, of Forest Hill, spent the week-end with Miss E. Pierce, McKenzie street.
Miss St. Clair Campbell is spending a holiday in Ashburton as the guest of her cousin, Miss D. Campbell. Miss Dorothy Sutton, “The Willows,” Otapiri, has returned from a holiday spent in Invercargill.
Mrs W. Norman, of Forest Hill, spent a few days in Invercargill last week. Mr and Mrs R. E. Cowie, of Oreti, were the recent guests of Mrs J. S. King, Tuatapere. Miss Nina Raines, of Invercargill, spent the week-end at her home in Essex street.
The first of a series of euchre parties was held in the Radio tea rooms on 'Monday evening, July 10, under the auspices of the Winton Basketball Club. The successful players were Mrs W. Matheson and Mr C. Hughes. Miss Eileen O’Sullivan, of Invercargill, is the guest of her sister, Mrs A. Sheed, New River road.
At the euchre party held in the Limehills Hall on Wednesday last Mrs F. Payne secured the first prize, while Mrs J. G. Hazlett and Mrs P. J. Kean tied for second place, The men’s prize was won by Mr E. .Hammond and Mr C. Gerrard was second. The winners of the aggregate prizes were Mrs H. Harris and Mr R. Boyd. Miss Jean Swale, of Limehills, who has been spending a holiday at Invercargill, has returned home. Mrs J. Scully is visiting Dunedin.
Mrs M. G. McArthur, who has been the guest of Mrs F. Moore, Clyde street, has returned to Invercargill. Miss M. Driscoll, of Invercargill, spent a few days with her parents, Mr and Mrs M. Driscoll, last week. Mrs P. Reynolds has returned from a holiday spent in the north.
Miss J. McDonald has returned to Lumsden after spending a holiday with her aunt, Mrs W. G. Clark. Mrs H. J. Mathias spent a few days in Invercargill last week. The annual ball of the Winton Football Club was held at “The Bend” on Wednesday evening, when an exceptionally large and representative gathering was present. The Melody Wreckers’ Dance Band (Invercargill) provided the music, while Messrs N. Pierce and G. Forde earned out the duties of M.C’s. Those present included: Mr and Mrs G. Kung, Mr and Mrs A.
