CIVIC BAND

CONCERT TO-MORROW EVENING,

To-morrow evening in the Civic Theatre the Civic Band will give another of its popular recitals. A firstclass programme has been compiled and will include numbers by the Greek entertainer Mr Peter Lans, who accompanies himself on the guitar. Songs will be sung by Mr R. Brown and Mr G. R. Loomes, two vocalists who are new to local audiences. Miss W. Harper is always welcomed on the concert platform and will be heard at her best to-morrow evening. Bandsman W. Derbie and his xylophone have become very popular at these concerts, and he will introduce entirely new numbers. The band numbers will include the popular “Bohemian Girl” overture, and a humoresque entitled “Pat and MacGregor,” which is being played for the first time locally. As the time is drawing near for the band to proceed north to defend its title of quickstep champions, it appeals to patrons to be as generous in their contributions as possible.
