MALE CHOIR CONCERT
BRILLIANT SOLOISTS. It is anticipated that the Civic Theatre will have a capacity “house” next Wednesday evening when the Invercargill Male Voice Choir, under the baton of Mr B. C. Galloway, will give its first 1933 recital. The choir is practising assiduously and. has a fine body of tenors and basses. Many beautiful part songs have been secured for this concert, including “All in the April Evening,” “At Andermack in Rhineland,” “Down in Yon Summer Vale,” “Over the Dark Blue Sea,” “Hail Smiling Mom,” the stirring choruses “Who Sails With Drake” and “The Song, of the Jolly Rodger” and the exalting “The Christian Martyrs” by L. de Rille. These choral works should please every taste. Patrons will have a further opportunity of listening to something entirely out of the ordinary when Mr Walter Prictor, the youthful male soprano, will make a first appearance in Invercargill and his songs with flute obbligato should be worth coming a long distance to hear. Master Oma Halbert, the seven-year-old boy violinist for whom a brilliant future has been predicted, will also make an appearance, while Mr J. W. Stewart (flautist of Dunedin) and Mr Hoani Halbert (the violinist) will both appear for the first time at the choir concerts as soloists. Mr George Gunn, the choir’s popular baritone, will sing “The Erl Kang’ and the accompaniments will be played by Signora Martinelli Regiardo, Mrs H. Halbert and Mr Gordon Lindsay, L.T.C.L., respectively. Patrons would be wise to book their seats early at the Bristol and avoid the disappointment of perhaps not being able to gain tance. Prices to suit ths times are 2/6, 2/-, 1/- (reserves 3d.) only.
