BUILDING SUBSIDY

APPLICATIONS IN WELLINGTON. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, June 29. While it is understood the number of applications on approved lines under the building subsidy scheme do not release as large a sum for labour as some other centres, the applications for jobs in Wellington total 91 to date and show a total estimated cost of £52,562, involving an estimated labour cost of £14,132, the subsidy upon which varies according to the nature of the work. It is stated from the Unemployment Bureau that the jobs will cost from £15,000 odd down to £B. There are two works over £lO,OOO, two of £4OOO and one of £2OOO. A number of works in progress, including the National Museum and Art Gallery, are not included in the present scheme.
