RATE NOTICES. COUNTY OF SOUTHLAND. GENERAL RATES: 1933/1934. PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that pursuant to the provisions of Section 120 of the Counties Act, 1920, Section 54 of The Rating Act, 1925, it is the intention of the Southland County Council to make on Friday, July 14, 1933, for the period beginning Ist April, 1933, and ending 31st March, 1934, on the unimproved value of all the rateable property on the Valuation Rolls of the respective Ridings as under: — A General Rate of one penny one third of a penny in the £ in the Waihopai Riding; one penny one half of a penny in the £ in the Awarua Riding; one penny two fifths of a penny in the £ in the Wallacetown Riding; one penny in the £ in the Winton Riding; one penny three twentieths of a penny in the £ in the Hokonui Riding; one penny nine twentieths of a penny in the £ in the Waikaia Riding; four fifths of a penny in the £ in the Mataura Riding; one penny eleven twentieths of a penny in the £ in the Toetoes Riding; one penny one fourth of a penny in the £ in the Oreti Riding. HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID RATE: 1933/1934. Pursuant to Section 41 of The Hospital and Charitable Institutions Act, 1926, a Hospital and Charitable Aid Rate of one fifth of a penny in the £ on the Capital Value of all the rateable property in the County. ALL the aforementioned Rates being payable in one sum at the Office of the Southland County Council, Clyde Street, Invensargill, on the 15th day of August, 1933. WAIKIWI SANITARY AREA. PURSUANT to the provisions of Section 123 of The Counties Act, 1920, an annual uniform charge for the purpose of providing for the expenses of the removal of House Refuse (nightsoil and ashes) of One Pound (£1) for nightsoil and eight shillings and three pence (8/3) for ashes. A rebate of one shilling (1/-) for nightsoil charge and five pence (sd) for ashes charge to be allowed if paid on or before 31st August, 1933. The annual charge for householders owning septic tanks half the annual charge for nightsoil namely ten shillings (10/-, less sixpence (6d.) rebate if paid on or before August 31, 1933. The annual charge for a weekly service or a double pan service One Pound fourteen shillings and sixpence (£1 14/6) less one shilling and ninepence (1/9) rebate if paid on or before the 31St August, 1933. The aforementioned annual charge being payable in one sum at the Office of the Southland County Council, Clyde Street, Invercargill, on the Ist day of August, 1933. The Valuation Rolls are open for inspection at the Council Chambers during office hours. TIMBER RATE. 1933/1934, PURSUANT to Section 28 of the Finance Act, 1927 (No. 2), a TIMBER RATE in respect of Standing Trees cut in this County and converted from the log into sawn timber, a General Rate of one half-penny per hundred feet board measure on Timber so converted in this year and payable in one sum on Ist April, 1934.
