LUMSDEN NOTES

WEATHER.

(From Our Correspondent.)

Hard frosts have been experienced for some nights now, ten degrees being registered on Sunday morning and being accompanied with a thick fog which did not lift until mid-day made the conditions anything but pleasant. Golf.

Although overhead conditions were good for the medal round played on Saturday,, there was too much frost on the ground for good golf, there being too much run on the ball. The best cards handed in were: Ladies, Mrs R. H. Scott 101—29—72; men, N. Geary 88—27—61.

Social Evening.

On Friday a social evening organized by Miss M. Allen was held at the manse, the object being to collect handkerchiefs for the bring and buy sale. There was a large attendance of young people, the evening being spent in games, competitions, songs and selected readings. Those contributing items were: Solos, Misses Brady and Allen and Mr Brash. A reading from “Innocents Abroad” by Mrs Comber and a Scottish reading by the Rev. Comber were much appreciated. At a suitable interval the Rev. Comber and Miss Allen thanked the young people for their contributions to the handkerchief stall and for their co-operation in making the evening a success.
