WRIGHTS BUSH NOTES

W.D.F.U. (From Our Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the Wright’s Bush branch of the W.D.F.U. was held on . June 7, Mrs T. H. Anderson presiding over an attendance of 20 members. After the reading of the creed the president asked those present to stand in silence for a few moments to pay tribute to their lost members, the late Mrs Milne and Miss Somerville. Arrangements were finalized in connection with the branch birthday which is to take the form of a social and dance, members of the surrounding districts to be invited. A report on the executive meeting was read by Mrs Scott.

An instructive demonstration was given by Mrs T. H. Anderson on the making of wool quilts and members agreed to assist in the making of same for relief purposes. Miss Lindsay, Mrs Galt and Mrs Townley were the hostesses at afternoon tea.

The Wright’s Bush Football Club held a successful dance in the hall on Thursday, June 15, music being supplied by Mrs Buchanan (piano) and Mr McDowell (violin) while extras were played by Miss Camnbell. The duties of M.C. were ably carried out by Mr J. Meehan. Amongst those pre-

sent were: Mr and Mrs McDowell, Mr and Mrs McCallum, Mesdames Meehan, Nunn; Misses Jackson, Cavanagh, Walker, Smith (2), Robinson, Bath, Swan, Rizzi, Campbell, Scott (2), McPhedran, White (2), Messrs McNamara, Meehan, Taylor, McCallum, Hodgetts, Swan (2), Robertson (2), Hill, Burns, Rizzi (2), McDonald, Cleary, Anderson, Donaldson, George, Thornbury, Walker, Laidlaw, Batt, Buchanan, McKenzie, Anderson (Waimatuku), Ronald, King (Waianiwa), Scott, White (2), Dawson, O’Donnell (2), Ronald, Cook (Thornbury), Cavanagh, Jackson, Lindsay, Farrell, Barron, McLean. Mr and Mrs A. W. Clark have recently returned from a holiday in the north.
