LODGE MEETINGS

MANCHESTER UNITY 1.0.0. F. The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Star of Nightcaps Lodge was held, in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Nightcaps on Tuesday. The Pro. G.M. Bro. Kelman accompanied by the D.P.G.M. Bro. Reidy, I.P.G.M. Bro. Stenhouse, P.T., P.P.G.M. Bro. McKenzie and D.S., P.P.G.M. Bro. Edmonds paid an official visit to the lodge. On the request of N.G. Bro. P. R. Sinclair, the District Officers occupied ,the chairs and conducted the meeting when the usual routine business was carried out. After the lodge was closed in due form a social hour was spent. On Tuesday N.G. Bro. Roberts presided over the fortnightly meeting of the Loyal St. George Lodge. After the routine business had been attended to and sick pay passed to various brothers the installation of officers for the ensuing term was carried out by P.G. Bro. S. S. Smart who acted as Installing Master, assisted by P.G. Bro. Cunningham who invested Bro Stewart as N.G., P.G. Sister Veitch who invested Bro Sloan as V.G., P.G. Bro. Burgess who invested Bro Whelan as E.S., P.G. Sister Dixon who invested Bro. Stuart as W and P. G. Bro. Malcolm who invested Bro. Roberts at G.M. The following assistant officers were appointed: R.S.N.G., P.G. Bro. Burgess, L.S.N.G., Bro. A. Anderson, R.S.V.G., Bro. Dixon, L.S.V.G., Bro. R. Anderson, 1.G., Bro. A. Winder, C., Bro. Cameron, R.C., Bro A, Butson, L.C., Bro W. Winder. P.G. Bro. Gunn delivered the address to the assistant officers. - The toast of the visitors was replied to by N.G. Sister Myers of the Loyal Hearts of Oak Lodge and G.M. Bro. Williamson of the Loyal Shamrock, Rose and Thistle Lodge. After the lodge was closed in due form a dance was held. It was decided to hold a Whist tournament next lodge night. The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal United Juvenile Lodge was held on Saturday when N.G. Bro. Perrin presided over a good attendance. After the usual routine business had been attended to a question box was opened and some interesting questions were asked. After the lodge was closed in due form games were indulged in. PROTESTANT ALLIANCE. The fortnightly meeting of the Star of Southland Lodge No. 14 was held on Saturday evening at the rooms, Don street, with acting W.M. Bro. A. Walker presiding over a good attendance of officers and members. The usual routine business was put through. One member was reported sick and sick pay was passed for payment. Three female and three male candidates were initiated into the lodge. Pastor Watt, of Makarewa, was initiated and I.P.M. Bro. Pearce installed him as honorary chaplain of the society in Southland. Wor. Bro. Hattrill, on behalf of the lodge, presented Wor. Bro. Pearce with a P.M. jewel. Bro. Pearce suitably responded. Pastor Watt offered to show a lantern lecture of “The War Memorials *of Edinburgh” to be arranged with the secretary as to a suitable date. It was also decided to hold a “bring and buy” sale at a future date and it was left in Wor Bro. Winwood’s hands to arrange and choose his committee. In the good and welfare of the lodge a report of the social evening held last Tuesday evening was presented. It took the form of a hard-up social Sis. J. Hughes winning the ladies’ prize and Wor. Bro. A. V. Hattrill winning the men’s. This concluded the meeting and a social evening of dancing was indulged in with Sis. Fleming at the piano and Bro. Parkin acting as M.C.
