RAPID GROWTH IN INDIA. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 7.45 p.m.) Calcutta, June 15. The tremendous growth of the sugar industry is indicated in figures . just issued. They show that the imports of sugar into India were halved during the past two years, the import duty was doubled and the imports of sugar machinery increased fivefold in twelve months. The growth of the factory industry, which is officially encouraged, has been a great boon to the small grower of sugar-cane.
