STAR OF WAIKIWI LODGE.

■ The Star of Waikiwi Lodge, No. 95, of the Independent Order of Oddfellows held its fortnightly meeting in the Waikiwi Hall. N.G. Bro. W. Connors presided over a large attendance of members and visitors from other lodges of the Order. A favourable ballot resulted in a new candidate being initiated into the Order in accordance with the ancient law and custom, the ceremony being carried out in a manner which reflected great credit on the N.G. and his officers. A proposal for admission of a new member by Bro. J. Aspray, which was seconded by Bro. R. Wallace, was favourably received by the N.G. P.G. Bro. H. Campbell was the recipient of a Past Grand’s jewel for the valuable service he had rendered to the lodge during his term of office. P.G. Bro. P. Fraser made the presentation and P.G. Bro. Campbell suitably responded. The Mataura Lodge advised that it would be paying Star of Waikiwi an official visit on June 22. The N.G., Bro. W. Connors, extended a cordial welcome to the visitors, resnonses being made by Bro. Farquharson (Clutha Lodge No. 25), P.G. Bro. G. Rask (White Flower Encampment), N.G. Bro. Meffin (Wyndham Lodge), N.G. Bro. MacDonald (Loyal Pioneer), P.G. Bro. Clark (Kennington Lodge), and N.G. Bro. G. Mannix (Aroha, South Invercargill). After the lodge closed, a pleasant hour was spent round the social board when a number of toasts were honoured, and at intervals several of the brothers entertained the members with .items.
