The Canterbury Shipping Company’s steamer Calm arrived from Lyttelton early on Saturday morning. She discharged about 40 tons of general cargo, afterwards loading 300 tons for the north and sailed shortly after one o’clock in the afternoon for Dunedin. The Government steamer Matai stayed in port over the week-end. During this week she will tend the nearer lights, making Bluff her headquarters, and will finally sail about a week hence. The Government lighthouse tender Mata!, which is at present visiting southern lighthouse stations, will load stores at Bluff on Friday next for Puysegur Point lighthouse and the Milford Hostel. She will sail on Monday and it is understood a number of passengers will join her at Bluff for the trip round the sounds. The Wanganella, which arrived at Wellington last Monday night from Sydney.
