BATTALION BAND

CONCERT TO-MORROW EVENING. That the Sunday evening concerts organized by the Battalion Band are again becoming popular this winter is indicated by the increasingly large and appreciative crowds which attend. The band is having regular and well attended bi-weekly rehearsals and is showing at each appearance that it is improving in its playing. For the concert on Sunday evening in the Civic Theatre, an entertainment to suit everyone has been arranged. The band will be heard in a selection of gems from Italian operas, also the overture “Uranius” and two stirring marches. Assisting artists will include Miss E. Davin, who will sing “She is Far From the Land.” Mr A. E. Le Petitt, the wellknown flautist, will be heard in selected solos for that beautiful instrument; Mr V. Aldridge, the band’s solo cornetist will play a Russian “Fantasia,” a solo for cornet written by the world celebrated cometist Jules Levy, while Mr J. McConnell (baritone) will contribute songs. Violin solos will be played by Master Cyril Pascoe, and the Scotch portion' of the audience will hear their own national melodies played on their own national instrument (the bagpipes) by Mr D. Robinson. Mr J. Cheyne and “Jerry” will also entertain. The band has refrained from making a specific charge and admission will be by silver coin, but patrons are requested to help the band by contributing as liberally as they can.
