The prefects of the Southland Boys’ High School were hosts at a very jolly young people’s dance in the school hall in Herbert street last evening, when the general verdict was that this annual function becomes increasingly successful with the years. The Silver Fern orchestra played invigorating music, and while the hall itself was not decorated, except for the flushed and happy faces of the young enthusiasts, the supper room tables were gay with flowers and greenery. Those present included:—Dr. and Mrs G. H. Uttley, Mr and Mrs R. M. Strang, Mr and Mrs J. Page, Mr and Mrs A. H. Robins, Mr and Mrs J. Braithwaite, Miss. East wood, Mr and Mrs A. Sutherland, Messrs H.
