FINES ON TEACHERS
INSTITUTE RECORDS PROTEST. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, May 11. A protest against a clause in the Education Act relating to the imposition of fines on teachers was made at a conference of the Educational Institute and a remit empowering the executive to press for the repeal of the clause was adopted. It was decided to appoint a recess committee to report fully to the next annual meeting in regard to primary school text books and make practical recommendations as to the improvements desirable.
