MOTOR FATALITY
LORRY CRASHES THROUGH BRIDGE. DRIVER KILLED. (Per United Press Association.) Wairoa, May 11. Whilst endeavouring to negotiate a sharp bend in Frascrtown road this afternoon, a lorry driven by Joyce McRobert, single, aged 30, either got out of control or the steering gear jammed, resulting in the lorry crashing through a bridge to the creek bed 15 feet below, landing wheels uppermost. The driver was killed instantly and two passengers suffered injuries. Rubina Marsh, single, suffered severe shock and her back was injured. She was taken to hospital. Scotty Walker suffered facial injuries and shock but was able to proceed home after medical attention. The late Miss Mcßobert was a certificated nurse, having been on the staffs of the Blenheim, Nelson, Wellington and Napier hospitals.
